Etiquette & Espionage by Gail Carriger

I was given Etiquette & Espionage by Gail Carriger by NetGally in exchange for an honest review.
I saw the third book first, Waistcoats & Weaponry, then looked and the first book, Etiquette & Espionage was available as a preview. I’m so glad requested a copy. I only stopped to write this review so I didn’t mix Etiquette & Espionage with Curtsies & Conspiracies, book two. Obviously, I love it. The characters are great, I think I may know some of these people. The names are eccentric and fun!
My favorite character is Pillover. The poor boy only wants to be bad, but can’t. He is mercilessly being bullied by the pistons, and helps Sophronia out of several scrapes! So much for being bad!
Gail Carriger crafts beautiful descriptive scenery. I can envision the flyway men and Captain Niall. I am there when Sophronia first meets Soap and realizes he’s not only covered in soot, I felt like I was there.
I am recommending Etiquette & Espionage to my family and friends in middle school and older. It’s great read for fans of magic, and strong women!
I am ready to find out what happens to the friends when they get back to Mademoselle Geraldine’s finishing school. I do wonder if Sophronia’s family will realize what kind of school they really sent her to, or if they will care.
