The Emblazoned Red by Dawn McCoullough-White

Ilka is a Paladin for the Temple of Silvius. She has been attacked and fell off a cliff landing in a boat. After several days of drifting on the ocean her boat bumps into a ship. The men on the ship pull her onboard and the captain takes her to the safety of his cabin. Then the real story begins.
The boat she has been rescued on is a pirate ship. She has not necessarily been rescued, but taken for ransom. The captain is Captain Nathaniel Sutton. Not only is he a lying, sneak pirate, he’s over twice her age and she can’t get him out of her head. He did save her from his men by pretending she was a Healer and he made sure they stayed away from her because she would be worth less if the men touched her.
Captain Sutton does take her home, but is captured and makes a quick escape. Ilka is told she must help capture him. She finds herself facing conflicting emotions. On the one hand he lied to her and returned her for a ransom. On the other, she finds herself thinking about him and hoping she is not the one to find him. What will she do when/if she does?
I love the story. Not only was it a great story with fun characters, but I had to pull out my dictionary! Always makes a story better when I have to pull out my dictionary! Five stars!!
I was given the opportunity to read The Emblazoned Red by Dawn McCoullough-White in exchange for an honest review.
