The Unfortunate Decisions of Dahlia Moss by Max Wirestone

The Unfortunate Decisions of Dahlia Moss by Max Wirestone is a different detective story.  I really liked the twists and turns.  I don’t know anything about the gaming world, but it didn’t seem to matter.  Dahlia is hysterical.  She finds herself in the best situations and while unbelievable I couldn’t help but continue to read!

There is a great cast of characters, from Dahlia herself to the players in the game of Zoth.  One of the detectives investigating the murder of Jonah, the person who hired Dahlia before his mysterious death, is a closet gamer and appears several times during the book.  (I am not sure the purpose of the other detective, who only appears once or twice, unless he is to show how “outsiders” relate to someone fully immersed in the gaming world).

I can recommend this book to anyone interested in the gaming world, as well as outsiders, like myself, interested in a funny new look at a murder-mystery!  I hope there is a sequel with the great cast of characters.  Surely Dahlia can fumble her way through another mystery!

I was given the opportunity to read The Unfortunate Decisions of Dahlia Moss by Max Wirestone- by NetGalley.
