The Seventh Bride by T. Kingfisher

The Seventh Bride, by T. Kingfisher, is a great retelling of the fairy tale Bluebeard.  Rhea is the 15 year old daughter of the Miller who is promised to wed Lord Crevan.  If she marries him she will be the seventh bride.

I like the way Kingfisher kept the story in the fashion of original fairy tales.  Many of the fairy tales told to children today are full of happily ever after, while the original tales were full of black magic, danger, and harsh “realities”.

I enjoyed this adaptation and hope to read many more Kingfisher books. I recommend this to anyone interested in a short read.  An easy five star read.

I was given the opportunity to read The Seventh Bride by T. Kingfisher- by Netgalley.
